How changing our reference model would change the face of the art world

In our daily life we use references to measure and evaluate almost everything, how beautiful is something? How big is it? How sweet is it? How lazy is someone? How red is something? Etc.. and art is not the exception. But points of reference reside in our subconscious mind, our evaluation has to be so fast that we rarely stop and consciously reason to define our taste, qualification, or opinion about something.

So as I said, art is not the exception, but what is the reference model that is used to evaluate the quality of an artwork or the importance of artists in the art world? Many said that art is subjective and that the quality depends on the eye of the spectator. But I would say that is a partial truth.

We visit museums, art galleries, biennials, etc. and the assumption in our head said something like this: -if this artwork is shown in this „important“ museum is because is „good“ art and because the artist should be „important“. The current paradigm that rules the art world is the fact that if someone or something is famous or prestige then has to be „good“ or „important“. And this paradigm resides in the social unconscious and has never been questioned. — But now we will do it.

Main art collectors has been realize this paradigm, and thanks to this paradigm the art world is possible to manipulate. So, if the artists they collect are „selected“ and „collected“ by „important“ museums their price increase. So, their collections become more expensive, more prestige, and more important. The game of this elite it is clear, and we leave these people to choose what art is for the rest of humankind, they are the „tastemakers“.

How one specific artist has been selected to be shown on the walls of an „important“ museum? In theory, there is the curatorial team behind, who should take the decisions. But, I would say that is a little more complex and in the end, there are many interests that move around the decisions made to show or collect an artist. Yes, there are art collectors behind the curtains, but also there are also networking connections that artists (or their relative or their friends) have. So, not only exist manipulation and speculation in the art world, but also corruption, nepotism, and cronyism.

Knowing this, the panorama for young/unknown artists could see very negative and without hope. But now that we have discovered and brought to the conscious the paradigm that is causing these problems, there is good news!! We can change that paradigm, but the only way to change the paradigm is by offering a new one. A new one where those variables like manipulation, speculation, and nepotism could not survive. After fifteen years of research, I have discovered a new paradigm in the form of a new reference model. This new reference model I called „The Pure Taste Indicator“.
